United Airlines Flight Rebooking

Review options when your United itinerary needs a different flight, date or connection. Ticket eligibility, the reason for rebooking and who issued the ticket determine the next steps.

Independent travel agency — not United Airlines, Lufthansa or any other airline. Assistance depends on ticket control and airline rules.

Before requesting service: Have your booking reference, ticket number, travel dates, and complete itinerary ready. BookMyReservations, operated by Shiv Travel & Tours LLC, can assist with eligible reservations where authorized; some tickets must be serviced by the issuing agency or airline.

When a United Flight Needs Rebooking

Rebooking can mean moving to another flight after a disruption or changing an itinerary by request. These are not necessarily handled under the same rules. Confirm whether the change is voluntary, caused by a United schedule change, or connected to an airline cancellation.

For traveler-requested changes, available inventory, fare conditions, any fare difference and applicable charges may affect the result. For airline-initiated disruptions, applicable re-accommodation options may differ.

Rebooking After a Schedule Change or Cancellation

If United changes or cancels a flight, review the notice and the offered alternative before modifying other segments. Eligibility for another flight or a refund depends on the circumstances and applicable rules.

Do not assume a ticket must be voluntarily exchanged when the airline has already offered disruption-related options.

Missed Connections and No-Show Situations

If a delayed incoming flight causes a missed connection on the same ticket, the operating airline and ticketing arrangement can affect re-accommodation. Separate tickets may be handled differently.

If the passenger simply missed the flight, no-show provisions may affect the remaining itinerary. See missed flight assistance before assuming onward or return segments remain valid.

United International and Star Alliance Connections

United itineraries may include flights operated by Lufthansa, SWISS or other Star Alliance carriers. A UA flight number does not by itself establish which airline can reissue the ticket. The marketing carrier, operating carrier, validating carrier and ticket issuer can differ.

For a partner-operated segment, confirm the ticketing authority and whether the itinerary is on one ticket or separate tickets. See Lufthansa changes, SWISS changes and multi-airline ticket changes.

Agency-Issued Tickets and Ticket Reissue

A travel agency-issued United ticket may need to be serviced by the original issuing provider, depending on control and airline policy. Rebooking the reservation is not always enough: a ticket exchange or reissue may be required to reflect new flights.

See agency-issued ticket changes and ticket exchange guidance.

Premium Cabins, Return Flights and Partially Used Tickets

United Polaris and other premium cabins require suitable booking-class availability on the replacement flight. A replacement may not preserve the same seat, cabin product or upgrade.

If the outbound has already been flown, the remaining return itinerary may be priced or handled differently. Review partially used ticket guidance before making changes.

What to Prepare Before Calling

Have the six-character booking reference if available, ticket number, passenger name, original and desired flights, reason for rebooking and any airline notification. Never email complete payment-card details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rebook a United Airlines flight after a schedule change?

Potentially. The options depend on the change, ticket and itinerary. Review the airline notification and the ticket issuer before accepting a replacement.

Does United rebooking always require a fee?

No single rule applies to every ticket. Fare differences, ticket restrictions and the reason for rebooking may affect the cost.

Can a United ticket with Lufthansa or SWISS segments be rebooked?

It may be possible, but the issuing and operating airlines, ticket control and fare conditions determine who can service each change.

Can BookMyReservations change any United ticket?

No. Assistance depends on authorization, the ticketing source and applicable airline servicing rules.
